Are you a resident of Fremont who is passionate about supporting the local libraries in your community? If so, you'll be thrilled to learn about LOLA - a community-led initiative that aims to strengthen and enhance the Fremont Libraries with the help of dedicated residents like you.

Fremont Libraries Need Us to Love Them Brilliant with Our Active Support
Reality Check! Fremont's Libraries are in deep need of a rebuilding and expansion! The reality is a decades (30 years) long historical need for expanded library services for all Fremont residents, in all areas of Fremont, the fourth largest city in the Bay Area.
This REALITY has its start in a 1/3 cut to the Alameda County Library Budget in 1993. It is a story of complacent status quo that has kept our libraries in near statsis. In 1994 Alameda County Library tried to pass a tax initiative to reinstate the budget - but the initiative lost by under one percentage point! The ACL Administration never tried again to raise base funding through property taxes. And now - here we are - 30 years later -
Here's the Word Bird
The Fremont Main Library building at 2400 Stevenson Blvd opened in 1989. In 2024 the building is in deep need of updating and remodeling.
The Centerville Library building opened in 1976. The shelving and the great multicolored carpeting at Centerville has never been replaced, updated, or upgraded since 1976.
Niles Library - an historic building, has only been opened for 1 day a week for over 30 years.
The Irvington Library has been in a portable building since 1971 and is on it's last legs -
But WAIT!!! The Irvington Library is now closed permanently as of July 31, 2024?!
Oh - and Warm Springs residents in South Fremont have been calling for their own library for much longer than 30 years! (See infographic here)
The City of Fremont has been developing the Warm Springs Innovation District since 2015 - but without any thought or plan to having library services included :
